It’s Still Too Early!

Last year, around this time, I wrote an entry complaining about the early celebration of the holidays. View it here.

I just have to say, it’s still too goddamn early to be celebrating this shit. We just got over Halloween for fuck sake. Christmas commercials, Christmas music on the radio, in early November is just too early! Can’t we have a break until after Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is the lead up to the Holidays. Once the turkey is settled in our bellies, we start looking forward to the holiday season. But not until then.

Who agrees!? Let me know in the comments!

Homophobia wins again

I know I am probably the last one in the blogosphere to write about this, but here it is.

Earlier this week, Maine voted to repeal a gay marriage law, with 53% of the vote.  I don’t understand it, I really don’t. How does allowing same sex couples get married hurt traditional marriage? How does allowing same sex couples the same rights as straight couples bother anyone? Somebody please, please enlighten me.

The rather interesting thing about this is, liberals, are usually pro-gay, but yet, liberal states like California and Maine vote against gay marriage, and a conservative state like Iowa is allowing them. How fucked up is this? So much for the gay hating conservatives huh? This shows how hypocritical liberals are.  Two of the most liberal states in the country vote against gay marriage, and one fairly conservative state voted for gay marriage. Pretty fucked up, huh? What does this say about conservatives? And what does this say about liberals? It certainly puts a spin on each one’s record, don’t ya think?

Happy Halloween!

Hello there! It’s been a long time. I’m sure you can tell. The hiatus is over. Actually, it’s been over for the past couple of weeks. I’ve just been to lazy to start posting again. Until now.

I spent the entire month of September and the first two weeks of October on the road, traveling the country. A long vacation, visiting family in my home state of RI and some friends in Minnesota. It certainly wasn’t an uneventful trip. On my way home, after leaving my friends in MN, I hit a pheasant on my way down from Mount Rushmore. The damned thing broke the grill on my truck. It just wandered onto the highway. By the time I saw it, it was too late. Wham! Feathers everywhere, and broken plastic, which I discovered when I stopped to rest in Wyoming.

By the time I stopped, I found myself in the middle of a blizzard. And for two days, I drove through ice and snow.  It was the first time I’ve seen snow in four years. And I think I’ve seen enough snow to last me another four years. I was never so happy to cross the border of Colorado into New Mexico. New Mexico greeted me with sun, nice puffy white clouds, and a beautiful blue sky with some moderate temperatures. Familiar territory. And it remained that way for the rest of the trip.

As the song goes, It’s nice to go travelin’, but it’s oh so much nicer to come home. And how true that is. It has never felt so nice to be home.

Without further ado, I bring you the top Entrecard droppers for October!

On hiatus

I’m going to be on hiatus until October. That means no posts, no entrecard drops, nothing until October. If you’re looking for something new to read, please check out my archive, there might be something interesting to read there. Until then, peace out! And thanks for dropping by!

Wingnuts?

I’ve been seeing this term being thrown around a lot lately and I’ve begun to question it. Most of the people that I’ve seen use it, cling to one wing or the other, right or left. It’s such a vague term. Wingnuts. That could apply to whom? Either nuts on the left or right, right? It really isn’t specific. The ones using this term could be talking about themselves for all I know.

Wingnuts this, wingnuts that.

I don’t think I need to tell you that there’s nuts on both sides of the aisle. As for use of the term wingnuts, I think only those who don’t cling to either wing should use it.

What is your take on this term?

Health Care

I am tired of hearing the supporters of this bullshit ObamaCare bill claim the opponents deny that there is a need for reform. I haven’t seen anyone deny that there is a need for healthcare reform. There is a need for reform! We just disagree on what “reform” means. Government takeover of Healthcare is not what this country needs. Government intrudes on our life enough as it is. Why the fuck would you want government controlling every aspect of your life? And of all things, healthcare? You’ve gotta be insane. I know your heart is in the right place. But think with your head, not your heart. Don’t be naive in thinking that this bill will make life easier for everyone. Government usually fucks up whatever it touches. If this bill comes to pass, Government will be fucking with your lives.

Favorites

I hear people say all the time, “this is my favorite (book, movie, song) of all time.” They are very insistent on it too. It’s their absolute favorite. I don’t know how it is possible to have one absolute favorite of anything, be it song, book, or movie. There’s just too fucking many of them! There are so many wonderful songs, movies and books. How can you single out just one?

I can, however, understand singling out your favorite singer, actor/actress, etc. I can absolutely name a favorite singer, but totally stuck when it comes to a favorite actor. Though, it may help that, my favorite singer was an actor too. But, when it comes to movies, books, songs, I couldn’t name one absolute favorite to save my life.

My favorite singer of all time without a doubt, is Frank Sinatra. My second favorite happens to be female and she is Ella Fitzgerald, the female counterpart to Frank Sinatra. I couldn’t name my favorite song by either of these artists. They recorded thousands of them. I’d have no problem creating a favorites list containing hundreds of their songs, but to name just one? One single song? I can’t do it.

How about you? What do you think? What are your favorites?

One Year

Today marks the one year anniversary of this blog. I have to say, I never expected it to be as successful as it is today when I wrote the very first post. I figured it would be just like my original blog at AOL Journals. I’d link you to it, but AOL Journals went belly up last year. Not that I miss it, I didn’t have nearly as many readers there, nor did I post as much as I have here.

I thank all of you, my readers, for reading and commenting on this blog. Whether you agree with what I write or not, I’m glad you take the time to read and listen to what I have to say.

Here’s hoping the next year is as great as the first, if not better.

Good day, all. And thank you again.
